First planning meeting aligns the 2026 New York book fair with World Arabic Language Day to strengthen Arab cultural presence in the U.S.

In a significant cultural step aimed at strengthening the Arab cultural presence in the United States, the Preparatory Committee for the Arab Book Fair held its first meeting to outline the main framework and foundational elements of the fair’s program, scheduled to take place in New York City on December 18, 2026.

The chosen date was carefully selected to coincide with the United Nations’ celebration of World Arabic Language Day, giving the event a deeper international and cultural dimension.

Leaders Outline Vision for 2026 Arab Book Fair

The meeting was dedicated to discussing the fair’s general vision and its accompanying activities, with the participation of prominent cultural, media, and community figures from the Arab diaspora, including:

  • Dr. Habib Jouda, President of the Arab American Association

  • Dr. Kamal Touba, Editor-in-Chief of Mirror of the West magazine

  • Dr. Mahmoud Azmi, President of the Egyptian American Council

  • Engineer Tarek Suleiman, Head of the Egyptian American Cultural Center

  • Businessman Mr. Ahmed Jouda

  • Journalist and writer Mr. Ahmed Moharem
