Located at 1779 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802, Masjid Al Islahi is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in April 2021. Its mission is to provide the Muslim community of Baton Rouge with a safe, clean, and welcoming place to worship Allah SWT, connect with one another, and engage in meaningful educational and charitable activities.
A Center for Worship and Learning
Masjid Al Islahi hosts the five daily prayers, Jumuah prayer, Eid prayers, and Ramadan Tarawih prayers. Beyond worship, the masjid is a hub for learning: children and adults are taught Quran recitation, Fiqh, Hadith, Islamic spirituality, and Arabic language, fostering a deeper understanding of Islam. The masjid also accommodates reverts to Islam, providing a judgment-free environment to learn and practice their faith.

Community Support and Charitable Outreach
The masjid runs a Halal Community Pantry that serves both Muslims and non-Muslims in need. Through donations and charitable programs, Masjid Al Islahi provides food, clothing, toiletries, and financial aid to support the less fortunate. These initiatives strengthen the community, embodying the Islamic values of compassion, generosity, and service to humanity.
Educational Programs for All Ages
Masjid Al Islahi emphasizes holistic development:
-
Youth programs include circles of learning where children and teenagers discuss age-relevant issues, Islamic etiquette, hygiene, and religious teachings.
-
Women’s programs focus on Islamic fundamentals, family life, Quranic studies, and personal development, led by qualified women scholars.
-
Men’s programs mirror these teachings, emphasizing knowledge, ethical conduct, and community leadership.
Community Engagement and Safety
The masjid works to foster brotherhood and sisterhood, not just within the Muslim community but also with neighbors and the broader Baton Rouge population. Programs educate the community on the dangers of drugs, alcohol, gangs, and bullying, promoting a safe, violence-free environment.
A Place for Celebrations and Milestones
The Imam at Masjid Al Islahi performs weddings, leads religious prayers, and guides the community in celebrating significant Islamic events, such as Eid and Ramadan. These rituals strengthen social bonds while maintaining spiritual devotion.
A Vision of Unity and Compassion
Masjid Al Islahi aims to instill values of empathy, charity, and justice. Its guiding principle is to want for others what we want for ourselves, creating a peaceful and supportive environment for all members of the Baton Rouge community, regardless of background or faith.
