Serene Tower Rises in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint: 132 Rental Units with Affordable Housing
The newly completed 11-story residential project blends modern living, affordable options, and community-focused amenities.

Greenpoint in Brooklyn welcomes a significant architectural addition with the official announcement of the completion of Serene Tower, an impressive 11-story residential project located at 16 West Street. This achievement marks the culmination of an ambitious development that provides 132 new rental units in this vibrant neighborhood, including a substantial number dedicated to affordable housing. The project promises a blend of modern living spaces and comprehensive amenities designed to enrich the urban experience of its residents.
The sleek structure, spanning 92,390 square feet and rising 114 feet, was meticulously developed by Strekte. Its completion is particularly noteworthy given the rapid construction pace since the foundation was laid in July of last year. The exterior is now fully finished, clad in light gray luxury brick complemented by recessed windows and sliding glass doors opening onto many private balconies.
The ground floor is designated for commercial spaces, featuring tall windows that hint at future retail opportunities, with an elegant main residential entrance along West Street. The property, also known as 79 Quay Street, sits at the corner of Quay and West Streets, providing easy access to the surrounding Greenpoint area.

Affordable Living at Serene Tower
Serene Tower offers a variety of living options, with 132 rental units averaging a comfortable 701 square feet. Each apartment is thoughtfully equipped with modern conveniences, including efficient air-conditioning systems, energy-saving appliances, and contemporary kitchen fittings. Many units feature private balconies or patios, offering personal outdoor retreats. Intercom systems enhance safety and communication. Tenants are responsible for their own electricity consumption, including cooking and heating, though the emphasis on energy efficiency helps manage utility costs.
Affordable housing is a cornerstone of the project. Thirty-five apartments are designated as affordable units, making high-quality living in Greenpoint accessible to a wider income range. Applications are currently open for individuals and families earning between 40% and 130% of Area Median Income (AMI), with qualifying income brackets ranging from $35,040 to $227,500. Applications must be submitted online or by mail no later than September 22, 2025.

The affordable housing program is structured across AMI levels to suit different financial circumstances. For example:
-
40% AMI: studios at $880/month, one-bedrooms at $933/month, two-bedrooms at $1,104/month.
-
60% AMI: one-bedrooms at $1,463/month, two-bedrooms at $1,739/month.
