In 2009, a young Iraqi named Sinan Falah arrived in the United States carrying more ambition than luggage. His journey from Baghdad to Columbus, Ohio, began with a dream, and today it stands as a testament to resilience, determination, and community-focused success.
Sinan pursued higher education in civil engineering, earning two bachelor’s degrees—one from the University at Buffalo in New York, and another from Ohio State University in Construction Systems Management. During his studies, he actively volunteered with a charity dedicated to helping refugees and newcomers find employment and build stable lives. For Sinan, success was never only personal—it was about lifting others along the way.
After graduation, he worked as an engineer on Ohio’s largest transportation project in history, notable for both its scale and cost. His exemplary performance led him to a government engineering position in Columbus, making him the first Arab engineer to rise to the Construction Engineering Division there—an unprecedented achievement.
Sinan Falah: From Real Estate Trailblazer to Arab-American Financial Educator
In 2019, Sinan expanded his horizons, venturing into real estate. Within just two years, he became the #1 agent at Coldwell Banker Realty – Central Ohio, not once but for two consecutive years, and the first Arab in the company’s history to achieve this milestone. His recognition extended beyond the company; he received the Rising Star of the Year award from Columbus REALTORS®, selected from over 10,000 agents citywide. He even made history on the cover of Columbus Dispatch, becoming the first Arab-American to be prominently featured.
