Annoor Islamic School in Wichita

Located in the heart of Wichita, Kansas, Annoor Islamic School (AIS) stands as a beacon of academic excellence, moral development, and community service within the Muslim community. Established under the umbrella of the Islamic Society of Wichita (ISW), the school’s mission is clear: to provide a well-rounded education that integrates Islamic values with modern academic standards, preparing students for success both in this life and the Hereafter.

A Vision Rooted in Faith and Knowledge

Since its founding, Annoor Islamic School has aimed to nurture students who embody both intellectual curiosity and strong moral character. The name “Annoor” — Arabic for “The Light” — reflects the school’s guiding philosophy: to illuminate young minds with knowledge, faith, and compassion.

AIS follows a comprehensive curriculum that combines core academic subjects—such as mathematics, science, English, and social studies—with courses in Arabic language, Qur’anic studies, Islamic history, and character education. This balanced approach ensures that students are grounded in both secular excellence and spiritual depth.

Academic Rigor and Excellence

Annoor Islamic School’s academic program is designed to meet or exceed state standards, while offering a faith-based environment where students thrive intellectually and emotionally. Teachers are certified professionals who blend innovative teaching methods with Islamic ethics, creating an environment that fosters curiosity, respect, and integrity.

The school’s small class sizes allow for individualized attention, helping students reach their full potential. Many AIS graduates go on to excel in high school, university, and professional careers, becoming leaders in various fields across Kansas and beyond.

Islamic Values at the Core

What sets Annoor Islamic School apart is its unwavering commitment to Islamic principles. Daily prayers, Qur’an memorization, and moral lessons are seamlessly integrated into the daily routine. Students are taught to live by the values of honesty, compassion, respect, and service, turning faith into action both inside and outside the classroom.

Teachers also emphasize Adab (Islamic manners) and civic responsibility—instilling a sense of humility, gratitude, and care for the community. The goal is not only to educate smart students, but to raise righteous, socially conscious Muslims.

Community Engagement and Parental Involvement

Annoor Islamic School thrives on strong community and parental engagement. Parents are encouraged to participate in school events, volunteer programs, and cultural celebrations, strengthening the bond between home and school.

The school also collaborates closely with the Islamic Society of Wichita, organizing family nights, charity drives, Ramadan programs, and interfaith open houses. These initiatives connect students to real-world service and foster empathy and leadership.

Student Life and Extracurricular Growth

Beyond academics, AIS offers a range of extracurricular activities that enrich student life and build confidence. From robotics clubs and debate teams to sports and art programs, the school provides holistic development opportunities.

Students also engage in community service projects, helping local shelters, food pantries, and interfaith events—living the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) teaching: “The best among you are those who bring benefit to others.”

A Safe and Nurturing Environment

Safety and inclusivity are central to Annoor Islamic School’s ethos. The school fosters an environment where students of all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and supported. Teachers act not only as educators but as mentors, guiding students through both academic and personal challenges.

Looking to the Future

As Wichita’s Muslim community continues to grow, Annoor Islamic School remains dedicated to expanding its facilities and programs. Future plans include technology integration, advanced STEM offerings, and new leadership initiatives to prepare students for a fast-changing world.

In every sense, Annoor Islamic School continues to shine as a lighthouse of learning and faith—illuminating the path for generations to come.
