In New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, winter storm warnings have been issued from Friday evening through midday Saturday, with expected snowfall accumulations ranging between 10 and 20 centimeters, conditions that could make travel extremely difficult.
According to ABC News, snow showers may begin Friday afternoon in New York City, continuing into the evening before tapering off Saturday morning. Forecasts indicate that New York City, northern New Jersey, the southern Hudson Valley, and western Pennsylvania could see the heaviest snowfall, with totals reaching 8 to 9 inches.
USA Today reported that the storm comes at a particularly sensitive time as millions of Americans return from the Christmas holiday, increasing the risk of widespread flight delays and cancellations. Airlines have already reported more than 2,000 delayed flights and dozens of cancellations in recent days due to weather conditions.

At the same time, California is facing a different set of weather threats, including flash flood warnings and thunderstorms caused by persistent heavy rainfall.
