The Egyptian American Cultural Center hosted a special celebration honoring Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, after he was selected as the “Man of the Year 2025.”
Engineer Tarek Suleiman presented the ambassador with a commemorative shield on behalf of the Cultural Center, expressing deep appreciation for his distinguished diplomatic contributions at the United Nations.
In his remarks, Suleiman highlighted the admiration and respect that both the Arab and Egyptian communities hold for Ambassador Abdel Khalek, praising the high-level diplomacy he demonstrated throughout his tenure at the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
For his part, Ambassador Abdel Khalek thanked the attendees for the honor and offered an in-depth explanation of the responsibilities carried out by the Egyptian diplomatic team at the mission. He discussed the challenges they faced and the achievements that strengthened Egypt’s global standing. He emphasized the valuable support Egypt received from Arab and friendly nations, particularly regarding the Palestinian cause.
Ambassador Tamer El-Meligy, Egypt’s Consul General in New York, also addressed the audience, underscoring the vital role of the Egyptian community and outlining improvements in consular services. He stressed the importance of staying connected with the diaspora and reflected on the outcomes of the recent elections.
An open discussion followed, touching on internal Egyptian affairs, the economic outlook, and the significant growth in tourism, real estate, and public services.
For two hours, attendees felt that the gathering—held at the Egyptian Mission to the UN in New York—expressed the strong bond between Egyptian diplomacy and members of both the Arab and Egyptian communities. The event concluded with commemorative photos.
