Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Tuesday the results of an investigation revealing that 1,084 non-U.S. citizens and undocumented immigrants were illegally registered to vote. All cases have been referred to the Department of Justice for possible prosecution.
According to the investigation—which LaRose described as part of Ohio’s ongoing efforts to safeguard election integrity—more than 167 individuals have cast ballots in federal elections since 2018.
The probe also uncovered 135 additional cases of illegal voting activity, including:

99 people suspected of voting in two different states during the same federal election,
-
16 individuals who voted twice in Ohio,
-
14 people who voted after death,
-
4 cases involving ballot collection, and
-
2 cases of illegal address registration.
In a statement to Fox News, LaRose said:“We are working tirelessly to ensure that every eligible voter’s voice is heard, and anyone attempting to deceive the system will face serious consequences.”
He added that Ohio remains a ‘gold standard’ for election integrity, noting that his office’s Election Integrity Unit continues to audit voter rolls ahead of the 2026 elections.

The investigation matched voter registration data against multiple federal and state databases, including:

The Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE system for alien verification,

This announcement comes amid LaRose’s ongoing efforts to update Ohio’s voter registration system. He recently filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration, accusing it of “failing to provide critical data” needed to identify inaccurate registrations.
The latest referrals and investigations highlight growing tensions over election integrity in the United States, especially as the next federal elections approach, amid rising calls for tighter oversight of voter registration and mail-in voting.
