Salman Nameer, a Palestinian immigrant in the United States, embodies resilience, ambition, and the power of cultural heritage. His journey began humbly, working as a waiter during his student years in Jerusalem. That experience provided him with valuable skills in hospitality and customer service, which later became a foundation for his entrepreneurial journey in America.
When he arrived in Dallas, Texas, Nameer worked hard to establish himself in a new country. Over the years, he transitioned from a simple worker to a respected entrepreneur, now proudly owning Gasmin Market and Jasmine Café, two community hubs that serve as gathering places for the growing Arab and Mediterranean community in Dallas.
Jasmine Café, first opened in 2004, came under new management in 2011. Salman, together with his brother and family from Palestine, brought more than 15 years of restaurant industry experience to the business. Their mission has always been to share the authentic flavors of Palestine with Dallas. By repurposing their family’s traditional homemade recipes, they created a one-of-a-kind menu that is both healthy and flavorful.
Shawarma & Community: The Success Story of Jasmine Café and Gasmin Market in Dallas
The café’s specialty is shawarma—a signature Mediterranean dish made from lamb, chicken, beef, or mixed meats roasted on a vertical spit for hours to enhance its flavor. Alongside shawarma, Jasmine Café offers a variety of fresh vegetable-based dishes, all prepared to order. The team’s promise to every guest is a complete, healthy, and memorable dining experience.
Gasmin Market complements the café by providing groceries and specialty products, making it a trusted name in the community. But beyond food and business, Nameer insists that his journey would not have been possible without the support of the Arab and Palestinian diaspora in Dallas. “Without the people, their encouragement, and their willingness to help, we would be nothing,” he reflects.
Salman Nameer’s success story is not only about business—it is a testament to perseverance, community solidarity, and a deep pride in Palestinian culture. His work continues to inspire immigrants and entrepreneurs across America, proving that with dedication and support, dreams can indeed become reality.
